Yakima Day 2

Yakima Skyline Rim 50k/25k. Thank goodness I downgraded to the 25k, still finished in 50k time (i.e. DFL). Nearly 5000 ft of climbing and descending in 25k, and some of the most spectacular views in the world. How did the RD find this trail? You find yourself alone on the ridge of a canyon with the wind about to blow you over, how did those red ribbons get there? Ran for a bit with a veteran of several 100 milers who said this race makes the "chin scraper" at Chuckanut seem like a walk in the park. Kudos to those who did the full 50k, especially those who ran YRCM the day before!

  1. My parents just put an offer on a house in Bend, OR. I'm thinking that should be our destination for BRS CI XII (next year). If we go over Chinook pass we'll wind up in the area pictured above and we'll get to tackle a UCI-level Cat1 climb to get there. yayayayay!
